"Without the left, political life in our country would be crippled. I think that "BSP-United Left" will be the surprise of the upcoming elections. Some wrote us off too early", said the chairman of the parliamentary group of the left, Natalia Kiselova, on the air of "Darik Radio", quoted by the party's press center.
In her words, the election of Krum Zarkov as chairman of the BSP is a chance to renew the party model in the country.
Kiselova added that key votes are coming up in the National Assembly before the elections. "The goal of our parliamentary group is to complete its mandate in a dignified manner, we have no commitments to joint governance", she explained, quoted by BTA.
According to Natalia Kiselova, a frank discussion is coming up in the parliamentary group about President Yotova's veto on the changes to the Electoral Code. She recalled that in the last vote, the left was divided on the issue of the number of polling stations in non-EU countries. My understanding is that there should have been no change in the Electoral Code at all, given the short time until the upcoming early parliamentary elections,” the MP emphasized.
On February 11, President Iliana Yotova vetoed the changes to the Electoral Code, according to which up to 20 polling stations could be formed in countries that are not members of the European Union outside the Bulgarian diplomatic and consular representations in the respective country.
According to Kiselov, a "great human tragedy" like the one in Petrokhan should not be used in the interests of any political force, as happened last week in the National Assembly.
