On the territory of the Sofia Municipality, the weather conditions are at a temperature of around 0°C, cloudy weather and light snowfall. Even before the snowfall started last night, the Sofia Municipality was ready to respond. With the fall of the first snow, anti-icing and snow removal treatments immediately began. 41 snow removal machines worked overnight, as well as five machines on the municipal road network, the press center of Sofia Municipality announced early this morning.
Anti-icing mixtures were applied in the areas of „Sredets“, „Izgrev“, „Mladost“, „Vitosha“, „Kremikovtsi“ and „Pancharevo“, as well as on the „Trakia“ route – Blvd. „Bruxelles“ and Blvd. „Tsarigradsko Shose“, and on the Southern Arc of the Sofia Ring Road.
In the areas of „Vitosha“, „Kremikovtsi“ and “Pancharevo“ both the spreading of anti-icing mixtures and the pushing of snow mass were carried out. Dangerous and steep sections were processed in order to ensure safe movement.
On the territory of the “Vitosha“ Nature Park, snow pushing and sanding were carried out on the two main mountain roads – – – – – – – – – – – – “Aleko“ hut, with five machines.
Currently, 23 snow removal machines are working on the ground, as well as 6 machines in the “Vitosha“ Nature Park, which continue to work if necessary.
All public transport lines are running on schedule and serving their usual routes.
The teams of the “Emergency Assistance and Prevention“ Directorate were on the ground and responded to one signal of a fallen tree. The situation is under control and there are no complications.
The teams of the Sofia Municipality continue to monitor the situation and will respond promptly if necessary.
The Municipality calls on drivers of motor vehicles to travel in cars prepared for winter conditions, and to drive at a reasonable speed and with increased caution.
