There is no plan B for the refinery in Burgas. The derogation of "Lukoil" is a very partial instrument and in order to guarantee quantities at low prices, a plan for alternative supplies had to be made.

This was stated by the former energy minister Alexander Nikolov to BNT.

And he insisted on having a conversation about continuing the derogation.

According to him, inflation will occur and if it remains in the second quarter of 2026 to 10-15%, it will be considered good.

According to him, at the moment it is very difficult for Bulgaria to supply itself with fuels. The situation is dire, Nikolov warned.

Alexander Nikolov insisted on thinking about how fast fuels could arrive at the State Reserve. He hopes that the uncomfortable topic of the corruption-ridden energy sector in Bulgaria will finally be opened, because at the moment what is visible is that the situation is catastrophic.

"This Pandora's box must be opened and everything inside must leak out," Nikolov insisted in relation to corruption in the energy sector.
