Prof. Ognyan Minchev: Asen Vassilev did not allow Yavor Bozhankov on the lists because we feel like being led, we feel like being scolded

The lists are expected, miracles cannot happen

The lists are expected, miracles cannot happen. This was said in the program "The Day Live" on Nova News by political scientist Prof. Ognyan Minchev in connection with the announcement of the lists with which parties and coalitions will appear in the early parliamentary elections on April 19.

The lists of Rumen Radev's new party were awaited with the greatest impatience, where the news is that in four regions the lists will be led by leading Bulgarian athletes, apparently in order to arouse interest in this party. In all other regions, the lists are led by people who are leaders in their fields of activity. This is a natural result of the selection, said Prof. Minchev.

The process of drawing up the lists is very competitive, even in the parties designated as leader parties. "We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria" was an exception until recently, but with the saga of not allowing Yavor Bozhankov to be on the lists, it became clear that Asen Vassilev is already experiencing himself as the leader of a leader party and a leader coalition. On the one hand, we have the dominance of leader parties and coalitions, and on the other hand, we have lobbying to see who gets on the lists, the political analyst pointed out.

It is difficult for me to assess what Asen Vassilev's arguments are, it could also be some personal antipathy, but most likely there are other arguments. Bozhankov was the person who did not allow the election of the candidate of "There are such people" for the Speaker of the Parliament. He was the person who allowed cooperation between "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" and "Vazrazhdane" for the election of the Speaker of the Parliament. After the elections, there may be many situations in which representatives of "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" can make decisions for non-standard situational majorities and Yavor Bozhankov, as a person who, according to the Bulgarian proverb, is led, not scolded, is not suitable to be a member of the PG of "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" in such situations, added Prof. Ognyan Minchev.

He also commented on the expectations of the former president and current leader of "Progressive Bulgaria" Rumen Radev to become prime minister after the elections.

In order for Rumen Radev to be the next prime minister, I should expect that he will receive the votes needed for at least 90-100 deputies in these elections. As of today, I am not sure that this will happen. But even if this hypothesis is realistic, he must embark on a coalition compromise with one of the other formations, pointed out Prof. Minchev.

If he approaches "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" as coalition partners, he will have to reach some agreement with them on the geopolitical dimensions of Bulgaria's position in the world, where there are very serious disagreements between him and the leaders of "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" Foreign policy, energy and all decisions related to Russia will be a stumbling block. If he turns to Boyko Borisov and GERB, he will have to put aside all promises related to anti-corruption policy, which will erode support for him.

Therefore, it seems to me that if Radev achieves a moderate result - neither too low nor too high, we will have difficulty forming a regular government in Bulgaria. I do not exclude the option of a caretaker government ruling until the fall, while Rumen Radev and "Continuing Change-Democratic Bulgaria" are united in parliament for changes in the justice system, in the security system, where in recent years we have had infiltration of people from Delyan Peevski and GERB. In this option, replacing these people with a long-expired mandate could be a priority, and by September, when GERB has lost positions in the administration, he could be much more obedient in forming a government in which to support Radev.
