The only guarantor of compliance with the Constitution is President Radev. Regardless of all the fluctuations, of all the new crises that arise every day, the presidential institution follows the texts of the Constitution. In this complicated situation, the president strives to be the guarantor of fair elections in the country.“ Vice President Iliana Yotova stated this to the media in Varna, where she is a guest of the XXVII Festival of Francophone School Theater, which is being held under her patronage, the Press Secretariat of the Presidency announced, FOCUS reported.

"The authors of the amendments to the Constitution wanted that there would be no independent cabinet anymore, that it would not be appointed by the president. They wanted a cabinet that would ensure the influence of the current majority of the previous parliament during the election campaign and "our“ The Ministry of the Interior should conduct the elections. Until yesterday, the governing "non-coalition” however, it is no longer united in its interests, that is why the skirmishes, the attempts to change ministers, the political instability and the birth of new crises, about which we warned from the beginning, started, Yotova pointed out.

The Vice President emphasized that Bulgaria faces serious challenges, and recalled that it is the only country in the European Union that has not yet received the second tranche of the Recovery and Sustainability Plan. Iliana Yotova also pointed out the responsibility of the official cabinet for the upcoming report of the European Commission on the rule of law. "This is a big challenge for the caretaker government. Our future in land-based Schengen will largely depend on this report, the vice-president stressed.

"Against the background of the conflicting data on the state's financial situation, which cause alarm, we are dealing with the question of who will be foreign minister for another day. This raises the question of why exactly in the coming months the foreign minister is so important. What is being prepared for the elections abroad?“, Yotova asked rhetorically. She defined the statement that the foreign policy orientation of the country depends on the choice of the foreign minister as a fairy tale for the naive. "Bulgaria determined its orientation a long time ago, and I don't see any political force or institution that would consider changing it,”, the vice president pointed out.

When asked if it is logical for the prime minister to also be the foreign minister, Yotova stressed that such a decision would mean that the country is in an extremely unstable political situation, with no trust between the parties.

Asked for a comment on the statement of a political leader that "there will be no ministers, there will be no prime minister, there will be no head of the parliament, tomorrow there may not even be a president”, the vice president replied: I advise my colleagues from the National Assembly, from political parties, to think about how to make normal, fair elections. For the first time, Bulgaria will hold elections for the European Parliament together with a vote for the National Assembly. This is not at all easy.
