Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov is optimistic that part of military equipment of the Bulgarian army can be repaired here. The American F-16 Block 70 fighter jets, whose delivery is expected from next year, can be repaired only in Bulgaria, announced the Acting Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov at a security seminar in Sofia, quoted by BNR.
"The rearmament of the Air Force with the F-16 Block 70 aircraft will contribute to the introduction of new technologies in one of our enterprises - "Avionams". There, the aircraft can be maintained entirely on Bulgarian territory. This plane will not have to go abroad, which saves costs", noted Zapryanov.
According to him, the fighting machines "Stryker" will be maintained in Bulgaria and our country may turn out to be a center for training this type of combat equipment in the future.
The program for the construction of the multipurpose ships of the Naval Forces allows them to be built in Bulgaria, the Minister of Defense also pointed out.
The creation of a National Strategy for the Defense Industry was proposed at the meeting.
