Municipal councilors from "Sinya Sofia" - Vili Lilkov, Ivan Sotirov and Ivaylo Yonkov propose a solution to limit the party appointments of directors of municipal trading companies in Sofia.
They insist the joint-stock companies owned by the Metropolitan Municipality:
Heating Sofia EAD Urban Mobility Center EAD Metropolitan Motor Vehicles EAD Stolicin elektrotransport EAD Metropolitan EAD Sofinvest EADto switch to the status of public companies traded on a stock exchange, where up to 35% of the shares of the companies' capital will be offered.
The proposal fully complies with European legislation, establishes the highest standards for transparency and accountability.
With this transformation, political interference in the management of municipal companies will be limited, opportunities for corruption and abuse will be reduced and better conditions will be provided for the development of these companies on a market basis, and the sale of shares will result additional income.
