The newly elected chairman of the Legal Committee in the EP Ilhan Kyučyuk will work for anti-corruption and adequate legislation that will solve the problems of European citizens, he promised in an interview with BNR.
In "Sunday 150" the MEP from "Renew Europe" and vice-chairman of the DPS, stated that the EP parliamentary committee will not create legal rules that are nationally oriented or in the interest of certain people and countries.
„In no case, because I will receive the very heavy negative sanction. It is a very professional commission that is concerned with the interpretation, implementation and monitoring of EU law and generally all acts relating to Union legislation for a minimum of 5 years, he said.
And recommended:
What we all have to do in the EP, I mean the Commission too, is above all not to produce successive laws that have no relation to the problems of European citizens. The legislation factory needs to stop and think a little more deeply about what works and what doesn't. Deliberating on which pieces of legislation to phase out, but having a clear impact assessment for them, otherwise means bureaucracy for the EU. And the end result is a withdrawal of support, instilling hatred and opposition, and returning the EU to what it has freed itself from, or we think it has freed itself from.
The pressure was exerted, dare I say very sharply, by people who have contacts and have worked in the EP. The response of European liberals was: The decision has been made. Ilhan Kyuchuk should be the chairman of the legal commission. And this external pressure further strengthens our belief that he is the right person to deal with anti-corruption issues, to review the potential conflict of interest of potential European commissioners, to develop ideas for a possible future anti-corruption law, on the Magnitsky model in the USA, for the EU. I am grateful to the European liberals because they confirmed this position, which DPS deserves. This is a success for Bulgaria.
The Deputy Chairman of the DPS commented on the party's Charter and stated that the document is being respected, “but not on paper, but in practice”.
„When humanity wants to change walls crack, the Berlin Wall fell. The will of DPS sympathizers is stronger than that of any bureaucratic apparatus. It can be complicated, it can take time, it can have consequences. For now, I see healing processes in the party – how to make democratic decisions”, he explained about the discord in the DPS.
And he is adamant that there is only one DPS and behind it stand 34 years and Bulgarian citizens, expressing their will, give representation in Bulgaria and the EP.
Ilhan Kyuchyuk commented on the initiated inspections by the National Revenue Agency of Peevski's opponents:
Opponents of DPS are attacked with inspections and alerts. Who is this money being handed out to? They belong to the Bulgarian citizens and taxpayers. Here is the demagoguery that was used by a number of leaders: “We will give you something because you live in Razgrad, Kardzhali!“ “We will give you something“ means that the people who live in these regions, at the cost of their dignity, made Bulgaria a democratic and legal state and opened the country's path to the civilizational choice - to NATO and the EU. No one has the right to dispose of them. The narrative "someone gives to anyone alms" I don't think should be sustained in the 21st century. We see pressure and efforts to compromise political leaders.
„We ask whether state bodies are used as a political club? But the actions, behind the apparent smile of Glavchev, say otherwise. District governors appointed under laws and constitution were deposed. Then the argument was that in Kardzhali and Smolyan DPS won the elections and deservedly so. Then Pehlivanov and Murat were activists of the party and now they are,” argued Ilhan Kyuchuk.
And he is adamant that “the big problem and the wound that needs to be addressed” is that people are elected based on their qualities, not who they belong to and which party. p>
The chairman of the legal committee in the EP, Dimitar Glavchev, also commented:
"His actions lately make me think that he is acting under the influence of Peevski. I have more than a deep doubt about the impartiality of the official cabinet in the preparation of parliamentary elections."
Kyuchuk commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court on the constitutional changes.
"Personal changes and focus always changes the public task. The other mistake is that many of them were made in order to obtain a political deal, goals that are not related to the problems of the Bulgarian citizen", he added.
