Bulgaria will benefit from the European Union mechanism for civil defense to request an aircraft to deal with the Slavyanka mountain fire on the Bulgarian-Greek border. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov, quoted by BNR
Stoyanov explained that the fire can only be extinguished from the air, as the affected Bulgarian territory is mined
Our country only has military helicopters, which are still involved in extinguishing, but, according to the interior minister, an airplane would be far more effective:
"We will ask for an airplane that actually, I saw for myself, how within 10-12 seconds it manages to fill between six and seven tons of water. That is, we have already set this mechanism in motion, I assume that with a good set of circumstances this aircraft will be able to operate on Tuesday.
Earlier today, a military helicopter was once again involved in extinguishing the fire in the area of the Bulgarian-Greek border. 22 military personnel are also on the ground for another day.
The fire continues on both Bulgarian and Greek territory.
In our southern neighbor, the entire perimeter of the fire is burning, and on our territory the fire has reached the "Ali botush" bioreserve, where there is a lot of dead wood, fallen and uprooted logs, which are potential outbreaks.
