Lyubomir Kyuchukov: Our department in the EC should have been determined a long time ago

It will be strange if we send two names, not a single country does, the director of the Institute of Economics and International Relations emphasized

When talking about a European commissioner, it is about state policy - which niche the country would like to fill, where to actively participate in European politics. This is done at least months and years in advance. State policy is absent. Most countries have already expressed their interest. They have done their homework and their work in Brussels. They know what springs they will get. It would be strange if Bulgaria sent two. Neither country has so far fielded two candidates.

This was stated by the director of the Institute of Economics and International Relations, Lubomir Kyuchukov, in the program "The Day ON AIR".

He noted that we fill quotas and secure balances. According to him, Bulgaria does not have a clear policy on specific problems.

"There are European macro-regions in Europe, which implies working with many countries and their regional interests. Bulgaria had a serious interest in trying to form a macro-region that would encompass South-Eastern Europe", Kyuchukov also told Bulgaria ON AIR.

When asked if we could take the "Energy" sector, the guest replied that the state institutions should have determined which sector would be good for Bulgaria much earlier.

"The whole debate in Bulgaria was reduced to names, which is too close to hearsay and gossip than to politics. The debate about names has shifted the focus of politics," Kyuchukov pointed out.

The director of the Institute of Economics and International Relations believes that we have not even formulated our goals - what we are aiming for, and we will get a portfolio of the residual principle - whatever is left.

Kyuchukov is of the opinion that "Energy" and "Regional Policy" would be a good portfolio, but the question is not only about what the portfolio is, but also how we are present in European policies.
