„Research shows that Ahmed's wing Dogan has clear electoral dominance. The big problem is that everyone has different resources. In one case, the Turkish minority undoubtedly supports Ahmed Dogan and the people of his wing“.
This is what Tihomir Bezlov, an expert at the Center for the Study of Democracy, told bTV.
„On the other side, we see Delyan Peevski, who has visible serious control over key institutions such as the court. What happened in Gaitanski is indicative. Mr. Peevski also has a significant financial superiority and the way in which he transferred so much property and put the two barns under control is impressive, Bezlov added.
According to the expert, Ahmed Dogan's big problem is the court, and this clash will be resolved there. Sociologist Elena Darieva is of the same opinion.
„The court will have the last word in the dispute between the two wings in the DPS. We are witnessing an increasingly fierce war, and perhaps the outcome will be determined by who has the greater resources. There is a battle for the brand, but also the more important battle for the identity of DPS. If Dogan's wing has an advantage after the electorate, then the bad thing is that the ethnic card is removed, said Darieva.
„From the point of view of ratings, things are already incommensurable between Dogan and Peevski. When they worked as a team, we recorded absolutely identical ratings for both. After the discord, the colleagues registered a higher approval for the honorary chairman Ahmed Dogan, and the approval for Delyan Peevski is at a critical minimum and not since yesterday, the sociologist added.
Bezlov drew attention to the Western reactions to the events in the DPS and the attempt by sympathizers to break through the police cordon and enter the “Bojansk sheds”.
„That this looks like ethnic tension. Representatives of Turkish minority parties clash with police immediately provokes other associations for the Balkans – Kosovo, the conflict in Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. This makes an impression outside of Bulgaria”, he said.
