DPS-Dogan called on the Bulgarian political class to distance itself from Delyan Peevski

DPS knows how to admit its mistakes, as well as finding the right solutions in difficult moments for our country

DPS knows how to admit its mistakes , as well as to find the right solutions in difficult moments for our country. Whatever price needs to be paid by the parties and their leaders, decisiveness in action and an escape from fear for personal and party good are needed. It is necessary to distance the Bulgarian political class categorically from Delyan Peevski.“

This was stated by the press center of DPS-Dogan in an official statement to the media with an appeal to all political parties in the 50th National Assembly.

Here is what else is said in the address:

„In the midst of another political crisis in the country and before the start of the second early elections for the National Assembly in this calendar year, we make this appeal to you, and thus to all Bulgarian citizens.

In recent months, DPS found itself in an unconventional situation for its long history, becoming a hostage to the sick ambitions of one of its two legitimately elected presidents. Ambitions for sole management of the party, expressed in independent taking of important political decisions for the party and the country, without having the necessary discussions about them, neither with the other chairman of the DPS, nor in the collective bodies of the party.

In the person of Delyan Peevski, our party faced his pathological passion, the takeover of businesses and companies by him, to be transferred to the field of policy-making, through the takeover of political parties. The DPS has the resistance forces to define the problem and decisively deal with it, (the legitimate exclusion from membership in the party of Peevski and other members of the leadership, who admitted fatal dependence on him for them, in unison with the same desire of our members and sympathizers, is not subject to of doubt).

It is by no means certain, however, that other parties that are threatened by the same raiding efforts by this person will be able to cope successfully. In this regard, our appeal "Bulgaria without Peevski" is not just a call, but a desperate act of self-preservation on our part. This is the only and absolutely necessary way to free the statehood in Bulgaria from the shackles of dependencies and corrupt practices at the highest levels of government.

More than once during the years of transition in our country, during the diagnoses of many of the diseases of our young democracy, made by the honorary chairman of the DPS, Dr. Ahmed Dogan, he was accused that he was also to blame for their origin. There really are no innocents in our entire political establishment. But the fact is very important that Dr. Dogan is one of the few, during his active participation in the political life of the country, who at key moments for Bulgaria was preemptively proactive and indicated not only the diagnoses, but was also an essential part of treatment.

Now the case is no different, but it is dramatically more important for the future development of our country in the complex geostrategic reality. This necessitated his return to the operational management of the party in accordance with its statute. This is what our message is about today.

In the last more than 10 years, we have all lightly allowed the escalation of processes that originated much earlier, in the obsession with the main pillars of statehood and the institutions representing it. In this situation, to leave without a consolidated firm reaction of opposition, against the demonstrably self-serving goals of a self-forgetful man, would be suicidal for all the democratic parties that have allowed this to happen.

Whatever price needs to be paid by the parties and their leaders, decisiveness in action and escape from fear for personal and party good is needed. A categorical distancing of the Bulgarian political class from Delyan Peevski is necessary. Just as our Euro-Atlantic partners bravely reacted, through personal sanctions and categorical declarations against him and his actions", reads the position of DPS-Dogan, and in conclusion the party emphasized:

„The opposite of our call will be another retreat from the interests of our people and the final sinking of Bulgaria into the swamp of mediocrity. It will nullify the chance for effective integration of our country into the modern and civilized world, in the institutions of which we otherwise formally appear. We must not allow this! The conclusions are for all of us!“
