The Central Election Commission with an unprecedented decision - registered both DPS as coalitions with the same time and without numbers.
"Whether or not this decision seems appropriate to us, it was a compromise and it was necessary. We do not know the whole of what happened in the CEC, but we saw a picture from which we can get an idea. We saw a few dozen people who were sitting at the desks of the CEC and not a single one wanted to give way. After all, the CEC members had no way to do their job. Some solution had to be found because this process had to be unblocked. This solution is as good as could be devised in such a short time".
This is what the journalist Ludmil Iliev commented in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".
Political scientist Daniel Stefanov explained to Bulgaria ON AIR that it is not about the actual registration of parties and coalitions, but about the submission of documents.
"There is still no practical solution for registration, it will come after the CEC has checked in detail all the elements of the applications submitted by the two groups and evaluated them. Then there will be an official decision. I suspect that whatever the decision is, it will be referred to the court," Stefanov said.
In his words, this is more of a battle for the DPS brand.
"It is a matter of registering parties, we are not talking about someone not being able to appear in the elections. This is a battle for a brand, for an acronym that means many things. The one who comes up with the abbreviation will have the representatives in the RIC, will have representatives in the CEC and in the SEC. The one who doesn't come up with the abbreviation, he won't have any of it," the political scientist added.
"There are certain practical benefits that come with that three letter - DPS. This is the opportunity to participate in the formation of election commissions. We know very well what influence they can have," added Iliev.
The journalist pointed out that the great advantage of big parties like DPS is precisely the wide, branched and stable network of party organizations in the country.
