The Ministry of Education is considering a mandatory matriculation exam in mathematics after grade 12

The Ministry of Education will initiate a discussion on the abolition of the National External Assessment after grade 10. This was confirmed to NOVA by the Ministry of Education. If an agreement is reached on this topic, this means that both exams - in Bulgarian language and mathematics for tenth graders - will be abolished.
However, it is being considered to introduce a mandatory matriculation exam in mathematics after grade 12. Currently, high school graduates take a mandatory exam in Bulgarian language and literature and an elective subject. A discussion is pending on whether to make changes.
