In August, the repair of the section where 12-year-old Siyana died begins. This was stated in “Wake up” on Nova TV by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov.
In his words, the section where "this unfortunate incident occurred is specifically secured with the necessary markings - horizontal, transverse, noisy, as well as with the necessary red lines that are placed on the route itself. "This happened immediately after we received permission from the prosecutor's office on May 7 to carry out only these activities on this section. And this will continue to the entire road between Lukovit and Pleven in the coming days. So that we can guarantee at least in this part with the marking, that there is some visibility for drivers", he emphasized.
And he added that the major repair of this road will begin immediately after the passability of the Botevgrad-Mezdra section is ensured, in order to transfer all heavy traffic. He emphasized that the repair of the Pleven-Lukovit road will begin in August, when the project will be finally approved and there is a construction permit.
Work is being done intensively on all 36 dangerous sections identified by us and their safety should be completed by the end of May. "At the moment, over 50% of them are safe. Every day, the ministry is discussing accelerating the activities. We are working at full speed", Ivanov assured.
He also commented on the several incidents that have occurred in recent days on the Republic Passage amid speculation in the public space that the road does not have Act 16. "Yes, that's right. The pass does not have Act 16, but this has happened over the years. I am familiar with the topic. We currently have a plan, an approved project for basic repairs so that it can be put into operation. Because these are omissions that have been made over the years", explained the regional minister.
But he was categorical that "he cannot take responsibility for closing the Republic Passage to traffic and completely stopping traffic". The necessary measures for repairs have been taken, he pointed out.
