President Rumen Radev expressed concern that prices will rise immediately after the convergence report for Bulgaria regarding our entry into the eurozone is released, Nova TV reported.

„If anyone owes answers to the Bulgarian people about the euro, these are those who submitted a request for an extraordinary convergence report. For whom our readiness for the eurozone is limited to advertising and the technical preparation of post offices and banks to exchange currency. Who forgot about people with severe social problems, especially vulnerable to any price jump. And such are a large part of Bulgarian citizens. The rulers are talking about measures in the future. That is, they will protect us from possible price shocks after adopting the euro. Experience from other countries shows that even with the announcement of the report, price resistance begins, especially for services in the national currency. And by the time of the adoption of the euro, a serious significant appreciation accumulates. Especially in the last months before the adoption of the currency. I strongly hope that this will not happen to us”

I expect the laws to be respected and everyone, including the Speaker of the National Assembly, must extend within the legislative framework. This was stated to journalists by President Rumen Radev.

He welcomed the participants in the Twentieth World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, organized by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. The Head of State participated in the closing conference of the BTA project “Europe in the Balkans: Together through Knowledge“, which was held in Varshets.
