Heavy rain mixed with hail poured over Pleven at around 7:00 p.m. The intense rainfall lasted about 20 minutes and was accompanied by strong winds in places, the municipality reported.
There were reports mainly of problems with high water levels in separate points of the city - in the area of the Cooperative Market and the roundabout towards the “Storgozia” residential area, in the area of the House of the Book, on “Doyran” street, in the area of the Pleven Bus Station.
The heavy rains have created temporary difficulties for the movement of trolleybuses in the area of the “Druzhba” 2 stop, at the intersection in the residential area „Mara Dencheva” and in the area of the Cooperative Market, informed Eng. Angel Nestorov, manager of the municipal carrier „Trolleybus Transport”. The trolleybuses serve all lines in Pleven, reported the Municipality of Pleven.
Due to the overflow of the Vit River, a road connection near Pleven remains closed - under the River Bridge, towards the „Rubin” Glass Factory. As a result of the prolonged rainfall, the river has overflowed its bed in the area and has flooded part of the road. The place is being guarded, and warning signs have been installed. Pleven Municipality calls on drivers of motor vehicles to use alternative routes and be careful. The restriction will remain in force until the river waters recede.
