Since the beginning of this parliament, it has been clear that there is a duel between the two factions of the MRF in the National Assembly. During the coalition councils, a certain protection and appointments of APS people in the government were sought. Since this did not happen, they withdrew their support for the government. This was stated by Pavela Mitova from “Ima tsav narod” (ITN) in the program “Litse v prs” on BTV.
I am glad that we have an iron majority, both for the eurozone and on many other government topics. This means that we are going in the right direction, she emphasized.
The benefits of the vertical gas corridor are enormous. First, our energy independence and stability for years to come. This is a project that includes several countries and also shows cooperation at the EU level for the diversification of energy supplies. This corridor will at least increase our capacity with Greece by 70%, Mitova pointed out.
The contract with “Botas” is meaningless with its very signing. I don't know what valid reasons the former acting Minister of Energy could have to sign a contract for 13 years, the capacity of which we cannot fulfill, even if we try 100%. We can supply gas to the Turkish terminals with 14 tankers, but the capacity of the contract is far more serious from a financial point of view. That is, half a billion is lost, which Bulgaria will pay without having any opportunity to use, that is, we are at a loss from the start. And the very fact that a long-term contract is being signed, which has no clause for either renegotiation or termination, without paying for the entire capacity of the contract, is frivolous and an abuse of power, she explained, from the point of view of the chairman of the Energy Committee in the National Assembly.
The only thing Bulgaria can do is to renegotiate part of the terms of this contract. Currently, Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov is negotiating with the company to renegotiate the terms.
"I hope the prosecutor's office will do its job and there will be some consequences for the parties that participated in this. The contract was signed personally by the former Minister of Energy as a buyer in a personal capacity and I hope the prosecutor's office will take up this", Mitova also said. If we side with Turkey, which is not to blame for us having signed a contract that harms us, and renegotiate this contract, you would probably ask why I am doing it, because this contract is entirely in their interest, she added.
The prosecutor's office is investigating the contract with the Turkish company "Botaş", and everyone involved has been questioned, the chairman of the energy committee confirmed. She herself did not give evidence, but experts were called to the committee.
In my opinion, the only option is to find gas at a very low price from a producer that we can deliver to the Turkish terminals in order to cover part of the half a billion losses, she pointed out.
