Lithuania is an example of how in a country that entered the eurozone after a currency board, income growth in five years was 115%, and inflation was 2.2%. In all the years, how has the lev helped the regions in Northwestern Bulgaria? When was the last time the currency was independent? This was said on Nova TV by the MP from "There is such a people" Stanislav Balabanov.
Bulgaria is in the process of joining the eurozone. In February 2025, Bulgaria officially submitted a request for an extraordinary convergence report to assess the country's readiness to adopt the euro. It is expected that, if the assessment is positive, Bulgaria will introduce the euro on January 1, 2026.
"Colleague Tsoncho Ganev is scared of adopting the euro, but part of the savings in his public declarations and KONPI are euros. This also applies to a number of other representatives of "Vazrazhdane". Among the positives of entering the eurozone are the increase in incomes, as well as the growth of foreign investments. The main task of the government, if the adoption of the euro is confirmed, is to inform and reassure citizens," Balabanov mentioned.
The deputy also commented on the head of state's proposed referendum on when to introduce the euro. "If the president's proposal were legal, we would stand behind it, because people should always be asked. Some time ago, Yotova and Radev said how good it is for Bulgaria to enter the eurozone, now perhaps with a political motive they have changed their minds. Their messages rather confuse and divide society," he believes.
According to him, the government was created as an attempt to stabilize the country.
On June 2, a national protest of young doctors and medical specialists was held in six cities in our country. Among the main demands is to introduce a mechanism to control the payment of a minimum wage for young doctors, nurses, midwives and other healthcare specialists.
"The healthcare sector has been a bottomless pit in recent years. Every minister starts with a reform, but it does not happen overnight or in a month. Assoc. Prof. Kirilov is trying to find a mechanism that will at least partially cover the requirements. I hope that the salaries of doctors will increase, but this will not happen quickly. ITN opens the doors wide to the problems of doctors. We will end this case with the new budget," Balabanov said.
