Vandalism has left large areas of the central part of Burgas without electricity, NOVA reports.

In recent days, manholes have been broken, fuses and electrical cables stolen. The municipality specified that they are still conducting inspections to establish the exact number of broken manholes. Once again, a room in the sea garden, where the lighting equipment for the Burgas bridge and part of the alleys along the coastal promenade is located, was also broken into.

On May 30, a 19-year-old young man was detained for 24 hours for stealing cables from 9 manholes. He has a serious criminal record, and has even served time in prison. Today, he is to be placed under permanent detention.

The head of the "Criminal Police" sector at the First Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Burgas, senior inspector Stanimir Vladinov, explained that the cables were not handed over by the alleged perpetrator. He sold them for next to nothing to other people from the "Pobeda" district, who returned them to a recycling center.

Currently, the power supply has been restored.
