Exactly half a year remains until the cherished date of January 1, 2026, when our country will officially start working with the European single currency - the euro. Today, the NRA, together with representatives of the CPC and the CPC, are organizing a meeting at which they will sign an agreement with which they will work together against speculation and unjustified price increases.
The Deputy Executive Director of the NRA, Evgeni Nankov, explains what exactly this means and what measures will be taken in the program “This Morning“ on bTV.
“Today, all control bodies involved in the process of inspections and price control, in connection with the entry into force of the Law on the Transition to the Euro“ to sign a tripartite agreement“, he said.
And he specified what role the National Revenue Agency will play:
„The role of the NRA in this process is to control how traders declare their prices in the cash receipts they issue, whether they comply with the requirements of the law, and for the period of dual circulation – when we will be able to pay in both levs and euros, whether prices are being raised unreasonably“.
He warned that the NRA authorities are starting large-scale inspections – and currently over 130 food chains are being inspected. And he explained under what circumstances sanctions will be imposed:
„When there is no reaction and the trader does not change his unfair practices, then the law provides for the imposition of sanctions. One month after the adoption of the decision to introduce the euro, traders must announce their prices in both leva and euro.“
And after January 1, there will be a one-month period in which we will work with both currencies.
