It should be clear to the Bulgarian people who is who

Former President Rosen Plevneliev accused Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban of being at the center of an anti-Bulgarian campaign and called on Bulgarian institutions to give an adequate response. According to Plevneliev, the institutions must take a clear position and condemn the behavior of Serbia and Hungary, which undermine the security of the region and the European Union.

"And most of all, I would like the highest institution in our country, namely the National Assembly, to hold a debate. Because so many Bulgarian politicians swore by Viktor Orban, who was a great friend of Bulgaria, and you see that he personally and his institutions, financed by Hungary, including the media in the Republic of Macedonia, are at the heart of anti-Bulgarian actions and attacks against Bulgaria," Plevneliev told BGNES.

The former head of state added that these attacks have already been carried over to the European Parliament and European Commission in Brussels.

Plevneliev stressed the need for the Bulgarian people to understand the true position of the various actors in the region. "It must be clear to the Bulgarian people who is who," the former president is categorical.

He drew a parallel between the attitude of Orban and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic towards Bulgaria: "In practice, the 'friend' of Bulgaria Orban is as much a friend of our country as Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is a friend of Bulgaria."

Plevneliev recalled Budapest's active role in building anti-Bulgarian networks, including support for the former Prime Minister of North Macedonia Nikola Gruevski, to whom Hungary granted asylum.

"Gruevski is an absolute Bulgaro-hater, with whom I had more than one problem during my term as head of state. He was financed by Hungary, he fled to Hungary, so things became clear," Plevneliev added.

According to the former president, these actions show the true face of Hungarian policy towards Bulgaria and the need for a clear reaction from Bulgarian institutions.
