Hundreds of dead fish in the Koprinka Dam

A signal has also been submitted to the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture

Hundreds of dead fish have appeared in the Koprinka Dam. The water level there is falling extremely quickly - by a meter per day. It is currently below 40%, and by the end of the week it could reach 30%. It is expected that by the end of the summer the reservoir will already have a "dead volume".

The dam is not used for drinking purposes, but for electricity production and irrigation needs. However, this is one of the strategic reservoirs in Bulgaria. It fills the Zhrebchevo Dam, which is currently at about 25% of its useful volume.

People are also worried about the appearance of dead fish in the reservoir. "It is most likely due to the sharp drop in water level. Plankton blooms, starts to rot and this leads to a lack of oxygen," said Martin Nanev from the Central Fish Conservation Organization, Nova TV reported.

A signal has also been sent to the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture.
