Nikolay Vassilev: Highways can be built quickly and qualitatively through concessions

"The people of Pleven and the region will not have water. How many tens of billions does the state have to spend, what public procurements need to be made, how much of the money will be lost along the way, how much of the water will be lost. If we had concessioned the entire water supply sector, perhaps the pipes would have been replaced long ago, the losses and thefts of water would have fallen, and that many times over," commented the former Minister of Economy

There is no privatization in the state, there is no talk of concession. This was said by the former Minister of Economy Nikolay Vassilev in the program “ReVizia” on NOVA NEWS.

“The people of Pleven and the region will not have water. How many tens of billions does the state have to spend, what public procurements need to be made, how much of the money will be lost along the way, how much of the water will be lost. If we had concessioned the entire water supply and sanitation sector, perhaps the pipes would have been replaced long ago, and water losses and thefts would have fallen, and that many times over. Where will the state now get the tens of billions for the water supply and sanitation sector with this broken budget? , pointed out Vassilev.

The former Minister of Economy stated that the state model of company management does not work anywhere in the world. And he gave an example of the losses of „Toplofikatsiya - Sofia” and „Bulgarian Posts”, as well as the lack of reform in BDZ.

Vassilev said that highways can be built quickly and qualitatively through concessions.

The former Minister of Economy also commented on the pension system. „It has mathematically crashed a long time ago. 800 thousand people in TELK? "Obviously, the system is broken, no reform is being done," he added.

Vasilev also said that to deal with economic problems, strong political will is needed, the private sector should have a greater role, and those who announce public procurement should be separated from others - those who appoint evaluation committees. According to him, the Ministry should award the contracts, but other institutions should appoint the committee in question, which will also curb corruption.
