The Japanese government through diplomatic channels expressed deep regret to the US side regarding the statements of the US president Joe Biden, who opined that Japan's economic problems are caused by its “xenophobia”. This was reported by the agency Kyodo.

According to the agency, the American side expressed regret and stressed that Biden's statements were based on a misunderstanding of the situation in Japan.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden, speaking at a campaign event in Washington and addressing Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, said that Japan's economic problems are caused by its "xenophobia" and strict migration policies.

At the same time, the head of the White House also accused India, China and Russia of xenophobia. As the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, pointed out at a briefing, Biden's statement, which listed Russia among xenophobic countries, contradicts reality and exposes the United States.
