There is hardly a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe who does not remember the epic finale of the first film about “The Avengers“, when Iron Man drove off into the sunset behind the wheel of a stunning open supercar. Well, prepare your wallets, because it is this futuristic Acura NSX Roadster, driven by Robert Downey Jr. himself, that is looking for a new owner. The exclusive vehicle of billionaire philanthropist Tony Stark is coming under the spotlight during the “Sundance“ Film Festival in Utah, where it will be auctioned off at a charity auction.
The exciting auction will take place on the popular Cars & Bids platform, and the cause behind it is more than noble. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to a charity named by the prospective buyer. Acura themselves will not be left behind, announcing an additional financial injection for the “Sundance“ Institute, with which to support the development of independent talents in the seventh art.
What makes this car a real value is its unusual history. Although it visually deceives us that it is a harbinger of the second generation of the model, under its unique shapes it actually “beats the heart“ of a classic Acura NSX from 1991. What's more - the machine is a true veteran of the road, with its chassis having covered an impressive 405,555 kilometers before falls into the hands of the masters at Trans FX.
To achieve this specific Hollywood shine, the designers have sculpted the body by hand from a special resin and fiberglass. For a more aggressive stance, the body is “lowered” to the ground by a full 5 centimeters, and the arches are filled with massive 18-inch wheels. When we open the door, however, we find ourselves in familiar territory – the interior has preserved the authentic spirit of the 90s, with the only noticeable change being the new, more ergonomic seats, ready for high-speed misadventures.
Of course, the movie icon won't be alone at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley. Acura is using the occasion to showcase its current lineup, with the new MDX taking on the role of official vehicle of the festival, and its compact sibling the ADX will also catch the eye of connoisseurs. Still, the big star remains “Stark's car“, which with its “Stark 33“ plates is ready to prove that sometimes movie magic is completely tangible and... sells.
