Microsoft is shutting down the Windows Maps service and has stated its intention to remove it from its app store by July 2025, according to a notice on the corporation's portal.
“The Maps app is deprecated and will be removed from the Microsoft Store by July 2025. At that time, there will also be a final update to the app from the store, which will make it non-functional“, the message says.
If you uninstall Maps after July, you won't be able to reinstall the app from the store, Microsoft warns. After July, interactive navigation and map URLs will also no longer work in the app.
The Maps app is no longer preinstalled on Windows, starting with Windows 11 version 24H2.
