The US intends to receive $10 trillion in foreign investment in the next two months, announced US President Donald Trump.
„No country in the world has even come close to this level. I want to thank the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is investing significant funds. „The result of all this will be the creation of two, three, maybe even four million jobs in the United States“, Trump said at a meeting with American and Qatari business leaders in Doha. He expressed hope that the investments will help cover the US national debt.
The US national debt currently exceeds $36.2 trillion. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that it could exceed $50 trillion by 2034. In late March, the agency projected that the U.S. government would face bankruptcy by August or September unless the debt ceiling is raised. The debt ceiling is a measure of how much money the Treasury can borrow to fund the operations of the U.S. federal government.
