US President Donald Trump said China violated the trade deal. “I quickly made a deal with China to save them from what I thought was going to be a very bad situation“, Trump wrote on Truth Social. “This is good news! The bad news is that China, surprisingly to some, has completely violated their agreement with the US”.
However, he did not specify what kind of agreement he was talking about and did not provide details about China's actions.
Trade and economic talks between the United States and China were held in Switzerland on May 10-11. Following the results of the talks, the countries announced mutual tariff reductions starting May 14, 2025.
