Diamond exports from Russia in 2024 fell by 6.3% to 30.37 million carats, and the cost of supplies fell by 29% to 2.62 billion USD, according to data from the Kimberley Process (international diamond certification organization).

Diamond production in the Russian Federation remained at the level of 2023 and amounted to 37.32 million carats.

In 2024 Russia accounted for 32% of global diamond production, Botswana 24%, Angola 12%, Canada 11%, and the Republic of Congo 8%.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) became the largest exporter of diamonds, accounting for 30% of global supplies, followed by the European Union (14%) and Russia (11%). India was the largest importer of diamonds in 2024, accounting for 40% of global imports (114.11 million carats).

The Kimberley Process provides controls over export-import operations, covering up to 99% of global diamond turnover.
