Currently, Rumen Radev is completely leaving the vocabulary and behavior of a president and the only thing I see is great nervousness from the fact that he does not have elections ahead. This was stated on the air of “Your Day” on NOVA NEWS by PR expert Diana Damyanova.
“You build an image for 8 years, you manage to maintain a relatively adequate behavior when you have all the power, and yet he had a more political behavior of a president then”, commented Damyanova.
According to her, the situation is one if the president runs for elections before the expiration of his term and another - if he runs after. “If he shows up 2 years after the expiration, count him as not having shown up at all”, she said.
The director of the National Book Center at the National Palace of Culture Svetlozar Zhelev said that he is most outraged by the use of words. President Radev called the party leaders in the governing structure "jokes".
“The use of words, especially when they are a direct insult to a political opponent or an important political figure in the country, such as Borisov, is a terrifying message about the state of democracy and our civil society”, Zhelev believes. According to him, the destruction of the fabric of democracy is our biggest problem and it can be very difficult to heal.
“There has been talk of Radev's political project since the very beginning of his second term. I still don't see a party that Radev could lead. If this does not happen within his term, I do not see what kind of elections he can run in while he is president. There is an option for him to run if he abdicates. But the question is not what is happening in the real political game. The problem is that all these words are destroying our society and the hope that something can change,” he believes.
According to Damyanova, Radev's heightened rhetoric does not distinguish him, but rather makes him look like him. “I find his vocabulary like that of a new “Greatness”, who is looking for his place under the sun”.
“When history textbooks are written, great personalities are left with some things they have done. Radev will be left with the fact that he was scandalized, that he was not allowed to come to power for the last 6 months,” she explained.
“I don't think that the arguments, the conversations, the language and the evidence of corruption are aimed at the voters at all. I don't think that Bulgarian politicians believe in the ability of the Bulgarian voter to make a reasonable decision. What they are presenting us with is a spectacle directed against each other. They are playing with each other and the Bulgarian voter is outside this game,” said Zhelev.
