„There's no point in sticking stickers on car windows. End of that”. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov, who is on a visit to Varna. According to him, after the removal of vignette stickers, now it's time for those for technical inspection to become electronic.
„The texts were released for public discussion. After we process all the opinions, they are about to be signed by me and come into force”, the Transport Minister pointed out. Karadjov explained that the cameras will detect the registration numbers of the cars and from a database they will see information about their eco-category and whether they have passed a technical inspection. „There's no point in sticking stickers, there's no point in sticking stickers, there's no point in sticking stickers. Why should we buy readers, given that there are only two of them now and they are in the Sofia Municipality”, the relevant minister also said.
He commented on the rescue operation due to a sinking ship near the Bulgarian Black Sea coast on Sunday. “The ship was transporting gypsum in bags to the port of Chernomorsk. The vessel suffered a list – it was depressurized, but the breach was not caused by an external source. The sailors tried to control the situation on their own,”, the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.
Karadzhov explained how the rescue operation went? “Our search and rescue service immediately took on its responsibilities. Signals were sent to both the Bulgarian and Romanian search and rescue centers. A military helicopter took off from here, which was the first to arrive at the shelves. Two boats are also leaving – one from the Bulgarian side and one from the Romanian side. After the helicopter assisted a Turkish research vessel, which was nearby, to tie the rafts to it, the boats were recalled”, said the Minister of Transport.
We recall that on Sunday, about 140 nautical miles east of Varna, the Cameroon-flagged ship EILEEN sank. The cargo ship had a hole in the side and was taking on water. The crew, consisting of 10 Ukrainians, left the ship with two life rafts. The sailors were rescued.
When asked whether a rescue ship would be purchased soon, the Deputy Prime Minister replied that the financial situation was difficult and he did not see any possibility in the draft budget to find funds for such an investment.
Later in the day, Karadjov will take part in the Annual Meeting of Local Authorities in the Albena resort. Within the panel "Investments with a Future - Opportunities for Growth and Sustainability" he will present the policies for the development and management of state and municipal infrastructure through concessions and public-private partnerships.
