An 18-year-old girl died in an accident on the road between Oreshak and Troyan. The car she was driving went off the road, hit a reinforced concrete pole and overturned on a ceiling. Three passengers were injured - a 22-year-old who was taken to the Troyan hospital, a 17-year-old who was transported to a medical facility in Pleven and another 22-year-old man who was released for home treatment.
„The most seriously injured passenger is the 17-year-old”. This was stated in “Hello, Bulgaria” by senior inspector Deyan Davidov from the “Traffic Police” sector at the Ministry of Interior Department – Lovech.
According to him, the accident occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday. “The section is straight. I assume that the pavement was wet considering the weather. I cannot say what the lighting was like. Regarding this, whether the passengers and the driver were wearing seat belts – this will be established during the pre-trial proceedings”, he explained.
The tests for alcohol and drugs of the deceased driver will be conducted during the autopsy, which will be scheduled. “She was legally competent. On September 5, she successfully passed the exam. On September 23, she received her license from the “Traffic Police”-Lovech. No violations under the Road Traffic Act were found – neither before nor after receiving the driving license”, emphasized Davidov.
Ivan Ivanov from the Association for Qualification of Motorists in Bulgaria stated that parents enrolling their children in driving courses should be interested not in the price, but in whether there are night driving lessons.
"There is nothing to surprise me in this case, because the lessons are written out en masse. Once they were written out on paper, but now they are entered electronically into the device we work with. We attribute such cases to poor preparation. There is no way such things can happen if the training is complete", he stated.
"Many of the parents, when they call - their first question is: “What is the price of the course?” I want everyone to know clearly – not the price of the course is the most important thing, because it is almost the same everywhere. One hundred or two hundred leva is not worth a human life. If I ask you the question “How much is a human life worth?“, no one will answer me that it is 200 leva”, he is categorical.
And he added: "When you call to ask about the preparation, the right questions are: Will there be night driving? Will we learn to work with the headlights and lights of the car? What should we observe and what should we beware of? Will there be driving outside a populated area, at a higher speed? What will the child learn? Is there training at a training ground, a training ground, etc.? These are the right questions. The price should be the last thing that is discussed. It should not be the leading one when choosing a training center or driving school. Because the results depend on it”.
