Assenovgrad becomes the next city in Bulgaria to ban the passage of electric scooters in the pedestrian zone. The measure is taken after a series of accidents with injured people from this type of vehicle, which is increasingly popular among young people, BNT indicated.
According to unofficial data, 4 serious accidents have occurred in the last two months.
How will violators be monitored and what are the sanctions they are subject to?
"For the time being, we have only placed signs in the city center. They will also be placed in other pedestrian zones in the city. Sanctions will also be imposed," he explained in "The Day Begins" Dimitar Vodenicharov, who is a transport expert in the Municipality of Asenovgrad.
He explained that actions will be carried out, and the sanctions are in the amount of 500 leva. It is mandatory for minors who use scooters to wear helmets. Other passengers should not be transported, as well as talking on the phone.
Dimitar Vodenicharov expressed hope that the measures will yield results.
