Prof. Grigor Dimitrov, a member of the Supervisory Board of the National Health Insurance Fund, sharply criticized the rulers for the draft law on the budget for 2026. He reproached them for not revealing any details about the parameters of the state's budget plan for next year until recently.
„The rulers have overdone patience and respect. They decided that everything was predetermined because they are very self-confident, because they have one vote and everything is over“, said Prof. Dimitrov.
He pointed out that the increase in social security contributions by two percent was planned to happen in 2027 and by another percent in 2028, since the idea was to find other ways.
And now suddenly it was decided that the contribution would be raised. Personally, for me, the right thing to do was to raise the contribution only when all other options were exhausted, added Prof. Dimitrov.
According to him, it is very important for people in Bulgaria - especially the young - to see that those in power are looking for a way to reform the system.
“What we are doing right now is putting out the fire with gasoline. Reforms are needed so that people can see that things are changing. There must be clear signals that there will be changes that will increase the effectiveness of the funds invested, so that young people can stay in this country,“ he explained.
Prof. Grigor Dimitrov also said that one of the things that is certain is that from 2026, clinical pathways will increase by 20 percent.
