Lawyer Ivan Demerdzhiev to FACT: These changes in the law because of "Lukoil open the door to lawlessness (VIDEO) - 1

A special manager of “Lukoil“ without legal liability? This is a key question. First, we must start with the fact that Borisov and Peevski are quite well-known for their affinity for liquidating various companies. Peevski is also known for his appetites for “Lukoil“, which became public knowledge a long time ago. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the “FACT“ studio and the “Conversation“ show by lawyer Ivan Demerdzhiev, former acting Minister of the Interior.

“This is the background that led to this. Otherwise, the motives are quite clearly stated in the president's veto – these changes in the law because “Lukoil“ is opening the door to lawlessness. The problems this law creates are very serious. The fact that they have overcome the president's veto does not mean anything. There is a serious danger that the Constitutional Court will rule on several illegalities in certain parts. Then there is the European Court, there are arbitration courts that settle disputes between large companies and states, and unfortunately we are often the victims“, he added.

“I do not look with optimism at what is happening. The process of submitting this bill itself was not transparent – it is not clear where this bill was “born”, who is the author, who developed the texts and in what way. Borisov boasts that almost all of these changes were borrowed from abroad. We must remember that the responsibility of Bulgarian deputies is to submit laws. There is no way that someone from outside to write you a bill – this happens through the Ministry of Justice. There is a Council on Legislation there, from there comes the initiative to draft a bill and assess its compliance with the rest of the regulations. And now we see a rush. There is nothing ridiculous in this, because if we follow Peevski's actions in the management of various state-owned companies, it always ends in liquidation. “Lukoil Neftochim“ is a strategic enterprise, extremely important for the Bulgarian state. If it comes to liquidation of “Lukoil“, the consequences will be extremely serious“, the lawyer also shared.
