The capital of "Irrigation Systems" EAD will be increased by almost 27 million leva in order to finance the restoration of the pumping station on the "Pyasachnik" dam. This became clear from the words of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during his meeting with the National Association of Grain Producers. The proposal will be submitted for discussion and voting in the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, the government press center reports.
The government will continue to support grain producers and work for sustainable and competitive agriculture. This was guaranteed by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov, who presented the measures taken by the government to support the sector, including progress on legislative changes in the field of land use, lease, water, protection of agricultural property and cooperation.
The focus on the modernization and capitalization of “Irrigation Systems“ EAD, the increase in funds under the Strategic Plan, ensuring access to water from the Danube River, reducing the administrative burden and preparing for the timely payment of subsidies to farmers were also discussed.
Progress in the preparation of new working groups and concepts in key legislative areas was also presented, including the procedures for completing land restitution, specifying lease relations, legalizing water facilities and strengthening control over water resources. The Prime Minister noted that the government is making the necessary efforts to develop them, with some of the requested changes having been in the process for over 20 years.
Mechanisms for ensuring stable financing of the hydro-ameliorative infrastructure and the need for clear criteria for industry organizations in agriculture were also discussed.
