„The philosophy of the budget is Assen Vassilev's. This is the same budget that follows the policy set by him". This was stated in the program „Sabù se” Lyuben Dilov, a GERB-SDS MP.
He also said that in the 2026 budget there are some „measures that are slowly trying to „turn the ship”. „Vassilev was the person who said that it is completely normal to have a 3%, even more than 3% budget deficit. But, unfortunately, the European Union does not give us”, commented Dilov.
And he added that large social payments cannot stop suddenly, because it would be a shock. “The people who still tried to talk about the budget professionally had completely opposite demands. Some - not to touch the tax burden, social security in any way. And the others - to increase social spending in this area”, explained Dilov.
According to him, calm is needed, but the protests do not contribute to this. Dilov said that the budget should be viewed as a contract that can be changed. And the government is doing everything possible to reach an agreement.
“Whether the budget is frozen or withdrawn does not matter. Any delay after next week will force the government by law to adopt an extended budget. And in order for it to be able to work after January 1, 2026, it must be in euros. It cannot be in leva. "It will practically be a new budget again," explained Dilov.
Dilov said that no MP was afraid to come out to the protesters, but the services asked several people not to show up so as not to provoke tension.
