My son has been in pretrial detention since yesterday evening. This was stated to "This Morning" on bTV by Atanas Bobokov, a businessman from Ruse, whose son was arrested after the protest in Sofia on December 1.
"It is a big lie that he organized protests. This is an 18-year-old young man who studies at an elite school, who would be absurd to get involved in vandalism. That's how he was raised. He was alone when he was arrested. Thank God he was arrested in front of a branch of one of the banks and the cameras recorded everything. He has neither a hood nor a hat. "He has nothing in his hands, he has 20 leva in his pocket," Bobokov said.
The police refused to check his hands for flammable liquids or traces of such.
According to Bobokov, his son was raised to respect both the police and the street cleaners. Atanas Bobokov specified that only the lawyer spoke to his son.
„Everyone thought that there was no evidence, and everyone would be released at the District Police Department. By noon, there were no witnesses, and when you announced that we would participate in the morning block, two witnesses appeared, but they did not talk about a container,“ he shared.
“The minister, when they reported to him about a certain Bobokov, drooled. What is the problem with us - the Bobokov brothers. It's as if we are organizing the protests," continued Atanas Bobokov.
The uncle of the young man caught in the protest - Plamen Bobokov pointed out that Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski organized a masquerade with the provocateurs of the protest.
„Last night, an acquaintance of ours called us to warn us to be careful what we say this morning. We know a lot about these people, but our goal is to shut our mouths“, added Plamen Bobokov.
He denied having any contact with Plamen Uzunov or other people from the presidency.
"I have no communication with the president or other people from the presidency. They are very afraid of the president and his party,", added Plamen Bobokov. Both he and his brother Atanas Bobokov hope to have a presidential party in 2026, when the head of state's term expires.
