The new budget is like the old one, even worse. This was commented on "The Day Begins" by Venko Sabrutev from the PP–DB and posed sharp questions to the rulers regarding the differences between the old and new versions of the state budget.
„The new budget is like the old one, even worse. Where is the money for the doctors, where is the money for the young doctors and nurses? At the same time, we see that the money for salaries in the administration is the same – the decrease is only 0.4%. What does it turn out to be – that the state is saving on doctors' salaries? If we get sick tomorrow, who should we call? Maybe a person in the Supreme Judicial Council who will receive a 6,000 leva salary increase, because 24,000 is not enough for him. Maybe we should call a person in the corruption commission who is investigating and is already receiving about 15,000 leva," commented Sabrutev.
He emphasized that during the PP-DB government, salary increases were proportional. Now, in his words, there is a “hyper-imbalance“ in salary growth.
“There is no way that there will be an increase in the salary of some by 6,000 leva, and another - as in BNT - by 7%. This is included in the new version of the budget,“ he also stated.
In his words, “the big mischief“ in the budget have not been removed, pointing out that the increase in social security contributions has not been canceled, but only postponed. He reminded that the three-year forecast clearly states the intention to increase social security contributions by 3% in 2027 and 2028.
„What are the priorities of this administration? Money for education and healthcare as a share of GDP is decreasing. What are the rulers telling us – that they do not want healthy and educated citizens, but money for theft“, Sabrutev also stated.
In 27/28, a significant increase in the state debt is expected, reaching 36.6% of GDP.
“The state is drowning in debts, non-existent revenues are entered in this budget and when the state acts in this way, the most natural thing is to raise taxes“, Venko Sabrutev also explained.
Sabrutev also sharply criticized the size of the new state debt:
“For 2025, the debt you are taking on is nearly two and a half times more than necessary. If we turn it into a family budget - it's like a family accumulating loans and not knowing how they will repay them. Then what do you do? You raise taxes. A certain Temenuzhka Petkova appears, writes one sentence – the Hicks tax doubles – and citizens start paying the Borisov-Peevski tax.“
