The Sofia Municipality continues its work on the full normalization of garbage collection in the "Lyulin" area after the difficulties of the first days of December. Daily collection has already been provided in a large part of the area, with the current information by microdistrict as follows:
As of yesterday, microdistricts 10, 9 and 8 are on regular, daily collection.
As of today, 1, 2 and 90% of microdistrict 3 are also on permanent service.
Today's campaign covers microdistricts 4, 5, 6 and 7, which will switch to regular service starting tomorrow.
Following the urgent transfer of the activities of the Sofia Waste Treatment Plant (STP) to Zone 3, in order to ensure continuity of service, the “Lyulin“ area temporarily experienced difficulties with garbage collection. All available resources were mobilized to control the situation - equipment, employees and volunteers.
“There are no impossible things when there is desire, discipline and mobilization. The first days of December in “Lyulin“ were difficult. And it is important to say it openly. It was not good. I also take responsibility. Tomorrow I will be on the ground together with everyone who is helping to solve the problem“, commented the Mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev.
Tomorrow's volunteer campaign is scheduled to collect only bulky waste, and the routes will be finalized by the end of the day.
The Sofia Municipality expresses its gratitude to all employees and volunteers who actively participated in the field work and helped to quickly restore the regular garbage collection regime.
