It is not true that the BSP will try to form a cabinet with the third mandate. We have not held negotiations with GERB. This was said on the air of “The Day Live” on NOVA NEWS by Rumen Petkov, chairman of the ABV Party, part of “BSP - United Left” and former Minister of Interior.
“The BSP leadership was not notified that the government was resigning. That is not how it is done. The decision is made at the meeting of the joint management council, but the logic in this case is understandable, because the old political wisdom says that whoever makes peaceful changes impossible makes violent ones inevitable”, Petkov believes.
The president announced when he will begin consultations with the parties
In his words, the way in which the protests were organized suggested an escalation to violence. “I have one concern here that the law enforcement and judicial system did not take the necessary measures for all violators, including the initiators - I am referring specifically to Kiril Petkov, who appealed to commit crimes during the first protest. Tomorrow we should not be surprised when the campaigners start to act outrageously during the matches, because they will do the same thing that Kiril Petkov did.
“There was no preliminary discussion about the resignation of the government, no preliminary analysis of all the threats was made, but this logic is completely understandable in this case”, Petkov commented.
According to him, today's conversation during the Coalition Council of “BSP-United Left” cannot be described as very enthusiastic. “We suffered the greatest damage, but we also identified two of our weaknesses - we were unable to present to the public the results that the ministers we nominated achieved, and they did a lot. We were not even able to brag like the people. Our other big mistake is that we failed to explain to society that those who talk about justice and the rule of law actually destroyed it. These changes in the judicial system and the creation of a sense of untouchability for the Prosecutor General made them “Democratic Bulgaria”, he said.
“I am afraid that we will enter next year with the old budget, and this is a catastrophe for 500 thousand people who have a minimum wage, and for tens of thousands of mothers. The accusations that the budget was left-wing and social are actually our pride. Because we guaranteed that it would be so. For the first time in 15 years, we have achieved a real step in the fight against the demographic catastrophe”, Petkov shared.
“Those who inspired the tension, the tremor and the severe state upheavals must realize that they are to blame. Because the future of a nation is not determined by the number of new cars, but by the number of strollers, he believes.
