We are categorically against privatization or concession of "Toplofikatsiya Sofia" EAD. This was stated by Ivan Takov, chairman of the BSP - Sofia and the group of the Local Coalition "BSP for Bulgaria" in the SOS. "There is no dispute that there should be actions by the Sofia Municipal Council to address the problems of "Toplofikatsiya Sofia" EAD," he commented. - The analyses are a good thing, but so far they have not led to any result in favor of the company. A large international company - Black and Veatch - prepared a similar analysis several years ago, as well as an action plan. But nothing followed from this. The truth is that taking any action just to end inaction does not solve the problems of "Toplofikatsiya Sofia", whose debts continue to accumulate".
Ivan Takov emphasized that the categorical position of the BSP group in the Socialist Party for years has been against a concession or privatization of the company. "For us, this is not a solution. And we will oppose any such idea or proposal. "Toplofikatsiya Sofia" must remain public property," he added.
The chairman of the Socialist group recalled that in 2019 the Sofia Municipal Council adopted a decision to elect an external manager who would also provide the necessary investments for the modernization of the company. "No one has any doubt that without modernization and new cogeneration capacities "Toplofikatsiya Sofia" there is no way to stop accumulating debts, said Ivan Takov. - The moment 5-6 years ago was missed. Now the debts exceed 2 billion leva".
According to him, the decision today goes through a dialogue with the state. "Such a dialogue was started some time ago, since this is the main creditor of "Toplofikatsiya Sofia", recalled the chairman of the BSP - Sofia. - This company is of strategic importance for the energy system in Bulgaria. It is part of the national security of the state. Therefore, I believe that a reasonable solution can be found. The necessary investments should be provided and "Toplofikatsiya Sofia" should start working in a different way to stop accumulating losses".
