The transition to the euro is going smoothly and there is no tendency for mass abuse, this was stated by the NRA, during an inspection regarding a signal of inflated prices in a store of a large food chain in Sofia.
The inspectors requested documents that should show the method of pricing the trader before and now in order to establish whether the price increase is justified or not.
The amount of the fines, according to the Law on the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, varies from the equivalent in euros of 5,000 to 100,000 leva for the first established violation, and in case of a repeated violation, the sanction is doubled.
Stoyan Dechev, Head of the "Operational Activities" Department in the NRA: "We receive many signals, there are hundreds of signals, and we have processed hundreds. From different aspects of economic life, from services to food, to different types of goods. Violations are detected, but they are not in a high percentage."
