Petko Petkov: Candidates from the "home book" to debate with the president the reasons for refusing to take office - 1

“It is good when all candidates in the "home book" go to President Iliana Yotova to debate a little more why they refuse to take office. Otherwise, we enter the absurd situation of all being potential caretaker prime ministers and refusing”. This was said on the air of “Your Day” on NOVA NEWS by the executive director of “Gallup International Balkan” Petko Petkov.

According to him, at the moment there is a feeling that the candidates for the position of caretaker prime minister refuse lightly.

According to Svetlozar Zhelev, director of the National Book Center at the National Palace of Culture, Dimitar Glavchev is emerging as the most likely caretaker prime minister. “He knows the ropes, he could get into the swing of things the easiest and fastest way and organize the next elections”, Zhelev believes.

”These will be one of the most difficult elections, because each of the political parties in the ruling coalition knows that it needs to get the maximum number of votes in order to either be in power or to largely control the parliament”, he added.

According to him, regardless of the outcome of Rumen Radev's formation, there will be a fragmented parliament and a mandatory governing coalition. "I don't believe that there is a possibility that someone will be strong enough to govern with less than three or four parties," he added.

"Radev is known on the political scene and would not be as much of a surprise as many would like. He will most likely do well in these elections because he will attract the small parties, but the big questions are what he would do after that. His options after the elections are not very large," Petko Petkov believes.
