The chairman of the parliamentary group of "There is such a people" in the National Assembly, Toshko Yordanov commented in the studio of "The Day Begins with Georgi Lyubenov" on BNT on the escalation surrounding the tragedy in "Petrohan", defining the case as "disgusting on many levels" and having grown into a serious political clash.
"The case is disgusting on many levels. First - for Bulgaria, this is terrifying for the first time. These are things we have seen in the movies - a sect, pedophilia, weapons. This initially shocks people," said Yordanov.
According to him, the entire structure around the association in "Petrohan" functioned with state support:
"This whole thing was made possible thanks to political protection. Even state protection. These politicians were in the executive branch at the time. This NGO exists so quickly and was registered in less than 72 hours. I want some journalist to check - how long it takes to register with the Registry Agency. Does it take less than 72 hours."
Yordanov named representatives of "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria" by name:
"It gets such control over a huge territory thanks to Borislav Sandov, who was then the Minister of Environment. Nikolay Denkov, as Minister of Education, authorized the creation of a school in Dolna Malina, which teaches children practical psychotherapy. This allows Kalushev to have access to children and take them to camps."
Yordanov claims that reports against the person named as the leader of the group were filed during the time of acting Interior Ministers Boyko Rashkov and Ivan Demerdzhiev:
"This boy filed two reports with the Ministry of Interior during the time of Rashkov and Demerdzhiev. The report did not reach the prosecutor's office. It remained there. And now they are jumping to the prosecutor's office. It is not - those with whom the report remained are to blame."
And he added:
"We have a pedophile sect, politically patronized. Registration, uncontrolled behavior, distribution of weapons, covering up reports. This is state protection."
Yordanov drew a parallel with the international scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein:
"In the "Epstein" files, every politician involved even just in the fact that he went somewhere resigns. Here we have people who created them, financed them, went there – and they have the audacity to still be in the political system."
Regarding the public reactions, Yordanov said:
"It is disgusting that we have a political party that justifies this. It tries to belittle it, to shift the focus. When it comes to pedophilia, we cannot talk about campaigns and political use. This must be investigated and there must be consequences."
Yordanov also commented on Iliana Yotova's decision to appoint Andrey Gyurov as acting prime minister:
"We have a person from the PP-DB as acting prime minister. This means elections with their Ministry of Interior. The broad public phrase "let's hold elections with our Ministry of Interior" is becoming a reality."
