Our expectations for the cabinet are the same as those of all Bulgarian citizens, namely that it will do its job honestly in holding fair elections. Otherwise, we do not have very high expectations for this cabinet, given its short time horizon, because in practice we are talking about a technical cabinet, not a regular one. This was stated by the chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Chamber (BIC) Dobri Mitrev in an interview with Nova News.
However, Mitrev explained that it is important for the finance minister to submit a new extension law for the budget to parliament, since the current one expires at the end of March.
„I hope there will be a regular cabinet after the elections and that the deputies will quickly consolidate around a composition, because Bulgaria has many challenges ahead. But the most important thing is to have the support of the Bulgarian society“, he also pointed out.
When asked how he would comment on the cost of holding the elections, which could reach 80 million euros, Dobri Mitrev expressed the opinion that there are objective reasons for the high price.
I do not believe that the experts have inflated the value. Yes, the price is high, but I suppose it is due to the increase in salaries. Besides, no one promised that democracy is something cheap. It is better to pay such a price than to see dissatisfied people in the squares, Mitrev explained.
According to him, it is right that employees in the public administration receive a 5% increase in their salaries, as written in the law.
“Unlike the public administration, funds in the private sector are created. The private sector is the real economy, it relies on its own labor and its own risks“, added the chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Association.
Mitrev also explained that business has not been compensated for the high price of electricity since April last year. On the other hand, two mechanisms have been adopted, but in his words, both “are not working“ and changes are needed.
In conclusion, he pointed out that among the main factors for inflation in our country are the price of electricity, the increased price of water from January 1 and the increased labor costs of employees.
