Citizens are protesting in front of the Courthouse in Sofia demanding the resignation of Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov. The event is organized by the initiative "Justice for Everyone" and is titled "Operation: Worthless 2". The protesters also held a march to the Supreme Judicial Council building, the Bulgarian National Radio reports.
Attorney Velichkov Velichkov from "Justice for Everyone" stated that until Sarafov vacates his office, the protests will continue and the European Prosecutor's Office will be notified for violating the rule of law. Tomorrow is the last chance for the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to hold a remedial exam, Velichkov said.
Ivaylo Mirchev, co-chair of "Yes, Bulgaria" added that elections with Sarafov cannot be held. Instead of resigning and leaving after two six-month terms, he started an investigation of the Minister of Interior, Mirchev told the protesters. He added that Peevski is nervous and is calling people from the SJC and other institutions in the judiciary and scolding them for why things are not going well. However, the structure is cracking – Today, 15 prosecutors from the Association of Prosecutors in Bulgaria have supported prosecutor Vladimir Nikolov, Mirchev stated.
