Vasil Terziev and Vyara Todeva begin accelerated work on delayed procedures for key projects in Sofia - 1

Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev and the regional governor of Sofia-city district Vyara Todeva agreed to begin accelerated and coordinated work on completing delayed procedures related to the transfer of state properties for the implementation of priority projects in the capital. The goal is to catch up on the accumulated backlog and ensure real progress on projects of key importance to Sofia residents.

The two held a working meeting on February 25, 2026. They emphasized that it is crucial for the regional and city governments of Sofia to work hand in hand in the public interest, especially when it comes to strategic infrastructure and social projects.

„Sofia once again has a regional governor on whom it can rely. The procedures have dragged on for too long for a number of sites. Sofia cannot afford to have important infrastructure and educational projects on hold. When institutions work together, the result comes faster – in the interest of the people“, commented Terziev.

The main priorities in the joint work were outlined:

the project “Green Ring Sofia“;

educational infrastructure (kindergartens, nurseries and schools);

large infrastructure sites, the expansion of the metro and

projects related to the National Children's Hospital.

Vyara Todeva, regional governor of Sofia-city district:
“We are working without delay on the most urgent projects that will improve the environment and quality of life in Sofia. The interests of Sofia residents should always be at the center of the work of the regional administration“.

During the meeting, the advancement of topics of public interest was also discussed, including actions related to the remains of the Soviet Army Monument, including the need to identify a suitable place for storage and exhibition, as well as the possibility of organizing an international competition for a museum of communism (in coordination with the responsible institutions).

The meeting also included coordination on logistical issues for the upcoming early parliamentary elections in April, within the responsibilities of the institutions.

The Sofia Municipality and the Regional Administration will periodically inform about the progress of priority files and the stages of implementation of key projects.
