When Kremena Ilieva's one-year term expires, I have considered that it is better to appoint, albeit temporarily, a person with greater leadership experience as the head of the National Institute of Forensic Science (NIK). This was said by the acting Minister of the Interior Emil Dechev during a hearing in parliament regarding the appointment of Senior Commissioner Anatoly Angelov as head of the NIK. Dechev described him as a qualified expert and leader.

Kremena Ilieva joined the Ministry of Interior system in 2001 as a specialist - first degree, in Lovech. From 2014 to March 2021, she held executive positions in the NIK, Dechev said. By order of March 21, 2025, Ilieva was temporarily reappointed to a management position - director of the NIK for a period of one year, the acting minister added. By my order of March 20, 2026, her temporary reassignment was terminated and she took up her titular position as a specialist - first degree, in the “Documentary Research“ sector of the “Forensic Technology“ department at NIK, added Emil Dechev.
The temporary reassignment can be terminated at any time by the authority that issued the order, Dechev also said.
By order of March 20 this year, Senior Commissioner Anatoly Angelov was temporarily reassigned to the position of Director of NIK, said the acting Minister of Internal Affairs. He added that Angelov has been in the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 2002, where he joined as a specialist - first degree. He held executive positions until 2015, when he was reassigned to a management position - head of the "Trasology and Ballistics" sector. From September 30, 2022, he holds the position of Deputy Director - head of the Center for Expert Forensic Research of NIK, Dechev informed. From January 2023 to March 2025, he was temporarily reappointed to the position of Director of the National Investigation Agency.
Before taking the position of Head of the National Investigation Agency, Ilieva had no management experience, Angelov had had such since 2015, the acting Minister said.
Regarding Miglena Radeva, Head of the Department of “Investigation and Methodological Management of Investigation“ at the Main Directorate “National Police“ of the Ministry of Interior, I draw your attention to the fact that she has been temporarily reappointed to the position of “Head of Department“ on October 3, 2024. She was reappointed as the holder of the position from January 14, 2025. From March 11, 2026 to April 20, 2026, Radeva is on temporary disability leave in connection with a general illness and hospital treatment, the acting minister said, BTA reported. He emphasized that Radeva has not been fired or demoted, nor has she been transferred to another position.
